The 2016 Folsom Jazz Festival will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, and it promises to be an exciting day of entertainment. Over 130 middle school and high school jazz bands, vocal jazz choirs, and jazz combos from all over California and Nevada will compete throughout the day at this family-friendly event. This must-attend Festival is the largest jazz competition in our State!
The noon concert will feature Ron Cunha Big Band. Some of the finest musicians in Sacramento play under Leader/trombonist Ron Cunha.
The 3 o’clock concert will feature Sacramento’s State Jazz Choir. The vocal jazz program at Sacramento State is under the new direction of Gaw Vang.
This Year’s Evening main stage guest artist is John Daversa with his renowned John Daversa Group. Daversa’s celebrated and distinctive musical perspective has been a passport to performances on world stages such as The Today Show, Late Nite with David Letterman, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Live 8 (Berlin), Hamburg Music Festival, Java Jazz Festival (Jakarta), Monterey Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Montreux Festival, and the Playboy Jazz Festival. He has also had the opportunity to perform or record with artists such as Fiona Apple, Michael Bublé, Dori Caymi, Andraé Crouch, Sheryl Crow, Bob Mintzer Big Band, and The Yellowjackets.
The Folsom Jazz Festival will take place at two locations:
Folsom High School - 1655 Iron Point Road, Folsom, CA 95630
Rolling Hills Christian Church - 800 White Rock Road, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762.
Tickets day of the event are $13 Adults, $9 Seniors, Children, and Students with ID (which includes entrance all day at both locations).
